Become a lender

Eligibility

To originate loans on Capital, your institution must meet all of the following:

  • Be a regulated lending entity under Philippine law. Universal or commercial banks, thrift banks, and rural banks supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and financing or lending companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission under RA 9474 or RA 8556.
  • Hold valid, unexpired licenses covering the products you intend to originate on the platform.
  • Demonstrate minimum capital adequacy consistent with your license and your intended origination volume. Thresholds are reviewed case-by-case with Capital Ops.
  • Pass PayMongo's KYC/KYB diligence, including beneficial-ownership disclosures, AML policy review, and a sanctions/PEP screen on directors and controllers.
  • Nominate a Philippine peso settlement account at a BSP-supervised institution for funding and remittance.
  • Have an executed partnership agreement in place. Each lender brings their own partnership agreement, and the exact terms vary by institution, product, and counterparty structure. What PayMongo requires is that the agreement governing your lending operations on Capital — including platform usage on your side, data handling, consumer protection obligations, and your operating procedures for delinquency and default — is fully executed before live credentials are released.

Foreign lenders, unregulated entities, and peer-to-peer platforms are not eligible today.

Onboarding workflow

Lender onboarding is a three-step process coordinated by the Capital Partnerships team.

  1. Create a PayMongo account. Sign up at dashboard.paymongo.com. Your API keys (sk_test_ and sk_live_) are generated automatically on account creation.
  2. Reach out to the Capital Partnerships team. Email us at [email protected] to express your interest as a lender. We'll align on partnership terms before granting access.
  3. Start integrating. Once PayMongo enables lender access on your account, your existing API keys are unlocked for Capital endpoints. You can start creating offers and running test flows immediately.

Getting your API credentials

After onboarding, credentials live in the Settings → Developers area. You will have:

  • A Test API key (prefix sk_test_) — for the test environment. Create, rotate, and revoke freely.
  • A Live API key (prefix sk_live_) — for production. Rotate at least every 90 days. Revoke immediately on suspected compromise.
