Key Features and Use Cases
The Split Payments API is ideal for scenarios where funds from a single transaction need to be distributed among multiple parties. This functionality offers significant benefits by automating complex payment flows and ensuring accurate, timely payments.
Marketplaces
Easily allocate payments to different sellers and service providers, such as delivery riders or technicians. This is all handled in a single transaction, with all parties receiving their respective cuts automatically.
-
A customer purchases an item from a marketplace:
The marketplace platform: Receives a percentage-based commission
The delivery rider: Receives a fixed delivery fee
The partner restaurant: Receives the remaining amount
This simplifies the financial reconciliation process, eliminates manual payout overhead, and ensures each party is paid correctly based on predefined rules.
Platforms that facilitate Multi-Party Transactions
Distribute funds to all relevant parties in a transaction, such as service providers and platform fees, without manual intervention.
-
A platform facilitates a vacation rental booking. A customer pays for the stay, and the Split Payments API automatically allocates funds to:
The property owner: Receives the nightly rate minus all fees
The cleaning service: Receives a fixed cleaning fee
The platform: Receives a percentage-based commission for facilitating the booking
This streamlines the entire payment process, ensuring each stakeholder is paid simultaneously from the initial transaction. It reduces operational costs and provides transparent, automated payment distribution, which is crucial for building trust with service providers.
